Tutorial Tuesday: Finishing an Embroidery Hoop
Let's talk about finishing a hoop today, shall we?
So, you've done it! You've finished your project and now the back of it looks like this.

The first thing you'll want to do is trim off the extra fabric, leaving about 3/4 of an inch (or 2 cm).

Then you'll want to get a long piece of thread and tie a knot at the end of it. This allows for it to be nice and secure for the final step. You'll start making stitches about 1/2" or so. I usually weave my needle a few times before pulling it through.

You'll want to go all the way around the circle but stop before you reach the first stitch. And please note, the stitches do not have to be perfect! They just have to basically be about the same length, but if some are a little smaller than others, it's ok!

Now it's time for the fun part! Pull the string and watch the magic happen! When you are done pulling it nice and snug you can glue a piece a felt on the back of the hoop (or use adhesive felt). Shoot, sometimes I've just run an iron over the fabric so it lays a little flatter and hang it up with no felt because I can be a lazy crafter, ha ha.

If you want to see how pulling the thread works, I'll point you in the direction of my Reel which is basically this blog post in video form (and under 30 seconds, LOL)
The Reel that Shows the Magic!
If you have any other questions about this, let me know! And as always, happy crafting!
